The things children can teach us...

Today was once again...amazing. We were able to play "net ball" against the teachers of the orphanage...let me tell you this is no easy feat. It is similar to basketball with no backboard and once you catch the ball you must pass it(you can only pivot). Also, there are only two shooters. Needless to say it was interesting and we lost pretty soundly.

After recreation, we were able to do worship with the children and then my favorite time of all...hand out their brand new bibles. The children lined up patiently but excited. The immediately went to sit down on the grass somewhere begging for markers just to write their names inside their Bibles. It was awesome...how often do we take for granted we can open a Bible any time we want? Or get any translation on our Iphone instantly? These kids couldn't believe they had their very own Bible. After we passed them out, we were able to meet with them in groups and talk about the Bible. I was able to share with them some stories from the Bible, we looked at the table of contents, and they shared with me things they knew.

The kids are so appreciative of everything we did. Today for crafts, they made Bible verses to hang on their beds, but they also wrote thank you notes to send to all the donors. We all literally had tears in our eyes as we read notes saying the following..."Dear friend, thank you for my bed....thank you for sleep...I love you so much..." Many of the kids explained how they did not know their parents but were so happy with what people had done for them! These kids have so much joy.

  1. There's nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or the other--showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God's way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us. II Timothy 3:15b-17 (The Message)
