Quick Blog

Just a quick blog...the luggage did arrive on Wednesday! So I know the crew from Indiana was happy!

Today in the orphanage was once again wonderful. We worshiped in the prayer garden for almost 2 hours...the children performed a drama and many different songs in both their language and ours. I was able to have the privilege of leading the message today...and our theme was "God is our everything". It was nerve racking but exciting..I think I made it through though! I had an interpreter the whole time which was kind of fun...

The children were awesome today...we did several crafts with them. It is great to see how even the simplest things they take their time on. Today, it was putting a sticker cross on construction paper...writing their favorite verse on it and then decorating and they spent an hour on it. Making sure each letter was perfect...each drawing was their very best. And then in their graciousness, they try to give you their picture they made as a gift. They have no construction paper to make their own and nothing to decorate their own rooms, but yet they still want you to have their drawing. So...I have about 30 of them to bring back to now decorate my room with :)

Tomorrow is our last day as a team in the orphanage...we are throwing the children a Birthday Party. Since none of the children really know exactly when they are born or celebrate it if they do, Sweet Sleep throws one big birthday party at each orphanage. Tonight we prepare birthday bags containing a beanie baby, mirror (they aren't able to look at themselves ever), toothpaste, tooth brush, silly band, and some candy. I can't wait to give it to them because I know they are going to be so excited. Of course, we have signs and balloons! It should be a great day but also a sad one as the team says goodbye.

I will be staying on through July 5th...I now know I will be traveling to Gulu with Jen and Stuart on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday....and then I'll be here by myself after that :) i'll go back out to Blessed Hope Orphanage on Thursday and Friday....more to come on my travel with Sweet Sleep to Gulu and my time after! For now bed time :)

  1. How exciting! I'm sure you did great...God is using all of you in a mighty way in the lives of those kids. The party tomorrow should be a blast! Hope Jen gets lots of pictures of their expressions when they open their bags. We'll be praying for everyone as the team heads back home. And I am praying for you always!
